WHAT IF YOU HAD A PORTABLE GRAMOPHONE
At first, it sounds like a crow screaching in a tree.
Then it sounds like a voice singing from the bottom of a tin can.
The the screaching crow.
Then the voice from the tin can.
She’s never heard anything quite like it.
She’s got to see.
A magical tale created out of (almost) nothing. Three actors tell the story of a small village far north. A place where you look down, work hard, and really don’t want to disturb.
This is Viola’s home. She sings too loudly and dreams too much and is far too curious according to the tacit northeners. But then, one day, a stranger comes to town – and the entire world’s suddenly at Viola’s feet.
“What If You Had a Portable Gramophone” is a tribute to imagination and storytelling. It’s a small story with a big impact.
The performance is a collaboration between Teatret Gruppe 38, Teatret Møllen, teater2tusind, and Carte Blanche.

★★★★★★
“Something magical arises in the encounter between the four theatres, a mixture of a heartwarming tale, a wish for imagination, and an incredible confidence in children. What If You Had a Portable Gramophone is children’s theatre of the finest kind.”
